Blauer Himmel (Blue Sky)

Near the Vocational Boarding School there are signs pointing to the “Neue Welt” (“New World”), a name of a district of Linz familiar to the inhabitants of the city. On the other hand, the “Neue Welt” sign has many more associations and ideas to offer people who do not know Linz. The “Blauer Himmel” (“Blue Sky”) sign immerses itself in this associative free space. A meeting point, now anchored in the Linz city area, is named and marked with it: “Let’s meet at the Blue Sky!”
As a concrete surface in front of a residential building for vocational school students, the wall bearing the title “Blauer Himmel” (“Blue Sky”) becomes a symbol for mindfulness in the choice of ecological, sustainable and humane process technologies and materials. The large-scale composition shows variations of blue skies, based on the “Blue Sky Monument 2020.” The numerous radiant shades of blue visualize the power and quality of nature, which is important to watch out for – each person contributes toward this.
“The unconditional freedom of the imagination, which cannot be restrained by anything, not even a concrete wall, speaks out from this work as well as out from the spirit of explaining something about the Neue Welt.” (Heidrun Rosenberg, art historian)
